Privacy, plainly
No forty-page legal scroll here. This is what we collect, why we collect it, and what happens to it afterwards — in plain English, the way the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 intends.
The short version
- We collect the minimum needed to run your fundraiser — nothing more.
- Buyers pay the organisation directly, so card details never touch us.
- Buyer details are automatically anonymised 90 days after a campaign is marked collected.
- We never sell data or send marketing you didn't ask for. Ever.
What we collect
If you’re buying from a fundraiser: your name, email address, phone number and what you ordered. That’s the whole list — just enough for the organiser to know whose order is whose, and for us to email you a confirmation with your payment reference and collection details.
If you’re organising a fundraiser: your organisation’s details, your name and contact details, and the bank account your supporters pay into. We show that account to your buyers so they can pay you directly — it’s your account, and the money goes straight to you.
What we use it for
Running your fundraiser. That’s it. Order details exist so the right family collects the right foil on collection day. Email addresses exist so we can send order confirmations, payment references and collection reminders. Phone numbers exist so an organiser can reach a buyer if something needs sorting out.
We don’t sell personal information, rent out lists, or quietly add anyone to a newsletter they never asked for. Buying a roll of foil to support the local school is not consent to a lifetime of marketing, and we intend to keep it that way.
Money and card details
Buyers pay the fundraising organisation directly — bank transfer or cash, using the payment reference on their order. No payments happen on this platform, which means no payment card data ever touches us. There is nothing to leak, because we never had it.
How long we keep it
Not long. Ninety days after a campaign reaches its Collected status — everyone has their goodies, the job is done — buyer personal details are automatically anonymised. Names, emails and phone numbers are removed for good; it isn’t optional and nobody has to remember to do it.
We keep the anonymous aggregate numbers — how much a campaign raised, how many rolls of foil New Zealand can get through in a fortnight — so organisers can look back on their totals and we can plan stock for the next one.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and a human at Frankly Packaging will sort it out — usually within a few days, always within the timeframes the Act sets.
If you’re ever unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz. We’d appreciate the chance to fix it first, though.
